I took to the skies again to work on the sunny island of Malta. This time, an incredible pool party at Cafe Del Mar, which is a chain of one of the best party destinations across these destinations. It was filmed for MTV: The Grind, a throwback show from the 90s.
If you don't remember or were barely old enough to open your eyes never mind process a memory, it was a music show with Martin Jensen on the decks and we were hired as professional party guys and gals to have a good time. This meant plenty of dancing, free drinks flowing and freestyle battles. And all of this was streamed live to Facebook where viewers got the chance to vote for their favourite dancer and generally watch us having an all round great time.
But before that we had the classic one day to ourself before we did anything and yes, I found vegan food even in the tiny run down area we were staying, St. Paul's Bay. It was kind of your typical holiday away with the grandparents location with excursion stands on every street corner and buckets and spades being sold, despite the fact there wasn't a sandy beach in sight, much to my disappointment. Unless, of course I just missed it, in which case the beach towel I carried with me really was a waste of space. It wasn't the most vegan friendly place I'd ever visited but I managed to find a nice restaurant with "veg-options" on my Happy Cow app. (If you don't know, get to know!) The restaurant was called Pash & Jimmy and I was nicely surprised to find that my kidney bean and sweet potato burger was served on a black charcoal bun. It really tastes no different in my opinion but if you're a burger expert then I'm sure you'll appreciate it.
We woke up early in the morning and were transferred by coach to Café Del Mar. I'd never been before and thought it was a hotel but it was actually a restaurant with a pool that hosts parties and club nights. As it was a day party, we had the sun on our side and got to wander about in bikinis catching the rays.
The job consisted mainly of freestyle on the podiums but it was very relaxed and we didn't have sets as it was meant to be very natural, so it was essentially a day party that got filmed by MTV.
We ended with a flash mob in the stage that was in the centre of the pool whilst fireworks went off over the sea. I honestly had the time of my life and I even ended up on the Isle of MTV snapchat story front page. Lol.
What's on my Face?
Let me know if you caught the live stream!
